Methylene Blue at one point was the only "man-made" ingredient that 7 offers, and that was for good reason:
Methylene Blue was discovered in 1876 and is deemed the first synthetic molecule to be used in medicine. What began as a textile and medical dye quickly evolved into a swiss-army knife for medicinal purposes. It has since been well researched for its myriad of applications both topically and internally, and used as a cure for things like Malaria and Arsenic or Carbon Monoxide Poisonings. We only recommend our Methylene Blue products for topical applications.
Methylene Blue is able to both accept and donate electrons to your cell’s mitochondria. The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell, and if it’s not operating at full capacity then your cell is not only going to be energy deficient, but it’s also going to result in the cell not functioning properly and being unable to repair itself. In fact, some schools of thought within the scientific community believe that most diseases can be traced back to a dysfunctioning mitochondria. And this is the primary reason why Methylene Blue is being used for ailments such as Malaria and Eczema as well as being tested on things like neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimers.
At the core of it, Methylene Blue’s ability to improve the mitochondrial function of our cells allows the skin to repair itself and heal from the cellular level. That being said, Methylene Blue is also one of the most potent free-radical scavengers in existence. Free-radicals (inflammation) are the main culprit in skin aging and other skin conditions. Methylene Blue is special because it can prevent inflammation by neutralizing these free radicals and providing the needed relief to your skin. This is why it is so revered by people looking to heal their eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, or similar condition quickly!
Unless an ingredient is made by God, customers should always be interested in potential side effects or drawbacks to man-made ingredients. In Methylene Blue’s case, the primary drawback of our Repair Serum is that it will stain your skin blue temporarily. Although, this limits your application to a night-time routine, most people will take that trade off.
Additionally, Methylene Blue is not intended for use by pregnant or breastfeeding mamas, as well as people on antidepressants, email us with any q's!
You should always consult your doctor if you have any questions regarding the use of Methylene Blue while on other medications. And if you have a rash or reaction to Methylene Blue, you should stop use immediately and consult your doctor.
As we said at the top, Methylene Blue was the only "man-made" ingredient that 7 has offered.
Methylene Blue has many amazing benefits and the results people see for treating their acne, eczema, etc. are fantastic, but the fact that it's a man-made substance didn't sit well with our team's goals and philosophy.
Just because something is man-made, doesn’t mean it’s inherently wrong, but if we can find substances in nature that can heal as well or better than synthetic molecules we are always going to go the way of nature.
We spent YEARS developing a combination of 100% natural ingredients that work even better than Methylene Blue, including royal jelly (the special food bees make for their queen), dead sea minerals, tallow, and other extremely healing ingredients.
If you were looking to use Methylene Blue to treat a skin condition or as a retinol alternative, we hear you. Try an all natural alternative instead like our Miracle Routine. No need for the blue hue.
God Bless,
The 7 Team
